Without the support of the above sponsors, our event on June 24th would have been impossible to be. We are very grateful for their talent, participation, and enthusiasm. With them we were able to, truly, go about that day, ALIVE WITH PLEASURE.
Many, many thanks!

The Rising Star Fife & Drum Band of Senatobia, Mississippi performed directly after the screening.  They began outdoors, marching into the building, and up the stairs, becoming louder and louder to those awaiting.  From front to back; Sharde on fife (Otha Turner's granddaughter), R. L. Boyce on snare, Jeffery Freeman on snare, and Aubrey 'Bill' Turner on bass drum.

Yeah!  "Up in the Room"!     (photo by Anthy Phillips)    (quote from M. Garrett & Mr. Airplane Man)

That's not Charlton Heston, but rather, Sharde & the RSF&D Band, leading a path through a sea of Detroiters.

When Sharde plays the fife, she tells no lies.

Rising Star

The Rising Star Fife & Drum Band, eventually, made it to the stage.

Nathaniel Mayer

Nathaniel Mayer were up next; "He's like a boll-weevil in a cotton field."- (expert backing from, left to right; Brad Hales on bass, Michael Hurtt on guitar, Mike Audia on drums, Jeff Meier on guitar)

Liminally (is that a word?), Nathaniel manages to find an intimate moment, -with a party going on all around him, both on the dance floor, as well as on-stage! (is that a dog?)          (photo; Rob Sarchuk)

Space Heaters

The Space Heaters; Detroit, MI (left to right; Dean Bonarek on bass, Pat Shaw on guitar, Mike Murphy on drums & vocals, Dave Hanna on guitar).  Great current Motor City group; anticipate their cd, buy their singles!  See the video on YouTube.

"Jump, Baby, Jump".  A long, sinewy, and driving groove that is unique to the north Mississippi hill country was in full moon in Detroit that evening when the Rising Star band returned in a different form channelling their neighbor, and legend, the late Jessie Mae Hemphill.  From left to right; Jeff Meier on guitar, Sharde on keyboards, Aubrey 'Bill' Turner on trap drums, Stephanie (Sharde's older sister) on vocals, Ms. Ada Mae Turner (Otha Turner's daughter and Sharde's Mom) on handclaps, vocals, and dancing, R. L. Boyce on guitar.

Eddie Kirkland

Eddie 'Hawgman' Kirkland; from all over, performed with The Reigning Sound backing him, and proved once again, that few can rock like Eddie.  It is rumored they will create an album together.  One can hope, and beg.
